WBV exposure calculator

WBV exposure calculator

Build a daily whole-body vibration exposure from one or more vehicles / mobile-plant operations. Enter seat-pad measured Wd/Wk axis values.

Used to surface sector-specific HSE good-practice controls in addition to the core CVWR 2005 / L141 rules.

ELV 1.15 m/s² A(8)

The ELV must not be used as a target — reduce exposure to as low as reasonably practicable (CVWR 2005 reg 6(2)).

Method: BS EN ISO 2631-1:1997 — frequency-weighted r.m.s. on the seat, Wd (x, y) and Wk (z), multiplying factors k = 1.4 / 1.4 / 1.0; daily exposure A(8) reported as the worst single axis (never vector-summed). Action/limit values: Control of Vibration at Work Regulations 2005, Schedule 2 (EAV 0.5, ELV 1.15 m/s²).

Recommended controls

Below EAV — no action programme required, keep practices proportionate.

Recommendations are matched from the CVWR 2005 / HSE L141 library; confirm applicability on site.
